Goals: English I Pre-AP
Analyze and Interpret LiteratureThrough a combination of classic and contemporary literature, it is my goal to have students become involved with a text - question it, live it, understand it, and connect it to our current world.
|
Transfer analysis into insightful writing
This former type of analysis should inspire students to write in search of expressing depth of knowledge and insight about a text.
|
Exit with a passion for reading/writing
By the end of the class, students should feel comfortable reading and writing, but most importantly, want to do it on their own time.
|
Goals: Dual Sociology
Develop a Sociological Imagination!
Coined by C.Wright Mills, the sociological imagination enables us to take things such as personal problems and consider them possible social issues shared by others. In the process, students should ask difficult questions while seeking answers about the worlds they inhabit.
